Temporary Operational Buyer Start ASAP - Ongoing Assignment Based in North Somerset Full Time Hours Pay Rate is 16.50- 18.00ph About the roleThis position is responsible for managing a designated supplier base and ensuring strong overall supplier performance, including delivery reliability, cost control, and adherence to quality requirements. You will report into a Senior Buyer and work collaboratively with both internal teams and external suppliers to support smooth procurement operations.
Key responsibilities - Creating and managing purchase orders across multiple systems and procurement channels
- Monitoring MRP outputs and taking appropriate action to accelerate, delay, or cancel outstanding order lines
- Preparing and issuing RFQs, evaluating supplier quotations, reviewing technical drawings and release data, and establishing replenishment parameters for new components or services
- Managing and resolving supply related issues, including delivery delays, quality concerns, invoice discrepancies, overdue orders, and material shortages
- Driving value through cost reduction initiatives such as supplier benchmarking, value engineering, and optimisation of inventory replenishment approaches
Experience Required: - Strong negotiation and influencing capabilities
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills
- A demonstrated ability to achieve cost savings and/or improve supplier delivery performance
- Confidence working in a fast paced environment
- A proactive, self driven approach with the ability to work independently when required
- CIPS Level 4 (or equivalent qualification, or relevant hands on experience)
- Experience in procurement, purchasing, or a similar role
